THE SONNET TO MY FATHER Haruyo Yamashita
Sinking to the ruin of the flesh that old age brought,
My father seems to be the lukiest on earth.
Ruined himself by playing pachinko,
Once he said to me__
When he came to Toyohashi city from the heart of the mountains of Shizuoka Prefecture counting on his aunt,
And when he stood to a pachinko parlor for the first time in his life,
He was so shy that he could even enter.
O, Life leaves instantly.
The young man standing on a slope, and never knowing paternity love.
Everyone has kindness that they want to hide,
And emotional wounds that they want to expose.
So the Holy Spirits,
Bubbling out from the extremely clear water,
Of the Keta river that is a branch of the Tennryu.
